I think with the Facebook craze, I have neglected my Blog! Updates on the summer include, VBS's, summer camps, lots of swimming and celebrations. Personally, I have so very much enjoyed the summer with the kids. They are getting to the age were they are so much more independent. We have been able to do so much more this summer. It seem we run from one event to the next, in attempts to get the most out of the warm weather.

The time is flying by and my little boy is growing up so quickly. Today he finished his last day of Kindergarten. What a wonderful year he had. He learned so very much about the Bible, he excelled in Math, he is reading so very much and his writing, wow! They grow up so quickly and I do know this. So, here is the beginning and the end of K. Good job buddy! I am so very proud of you!

We had another great time in Cali this year. It was so beautiful and the kids of course loved it all. We made our way around LA, Oceanside, Orange County, Disneyland and even went to Palm Springs this year. It was fabulous and beautiful. Spending time with family feeds the soul in so many ways. Here is a little of the trip.

Spring!

Today, the kids have their friends over to play. There is a movie going in one room and video games in the other. I have my "To Do" list going for the next 2 weeks. Planning for Easter and a trip to Georgia the next. As I was planning, I looked up and there in front of me were my beautiful flowers. I had to grab the camera and capture the life inside my home today. On days like today where the flowers are trying to push their way up through the soil outside but the weather is cold and grey, it's hard to imagine that it will ever be warm and sunny. Today, I thought I would focus on the life "inside" the home. I want so badly to be outside! But I think of what God is giving me today. Life in the home. All that we can be and enjoy for today. And I think, do I really embrace all that God has placed right before me or do I always keep longing for something that is not there and then live in disappointment all day because it's not there. So today, I count my indoor blessings, my beauty that is right before my eyes. Thank you for today Lord. Thank you for today!

Well, it has been quite a Birthday again this year for Big G! We celebrated with family, we took a trip to Wilderness Territory and ended with a Birthday with friends at Chuck E. Cheese. As you can see, it was a success. There is nothing better than when you see a grin from ear to ear from you child. He had a fabulous time! Everyone made it special!

Today was a beautiful fresh snow kinda day to get out in the warm sun and catch a few good shots for day 28! I love the colors in these pics, but I really love the girl in the picture. She is a great sport with all these pics I'm taking. I love them all because each one tells a story. The top one is just an upclose one where you can see the melted snow on her lips and flecks of it in her hair. Did I mention that she was loving eating the fresh snow today. Project 365 Helpful Hints to better a Picture

Well, I am on day 12 of my Project 365. That's 353 more pics to take this year. I learned 10 great ways to better improve you photos and wanted to share them with you.

1. Get up close and eliminate distractions in the background

2. Know your camera's minimum focusing distance. Look in the camera manual

3. Learn how to lock the focus on you camera. Again, look in manual.

4. Know you camera's flash range and shoot from that distance. Look in manual.

5. Use your cameras flash when outdoors to eliminate harsh shadows on faces.

6. If you can find some shade outdoors to shoot, try it out.

7. Start to learn where light is coming from and use it to your advantage.

8. Shoot from different angles not just from a normal standing position. Remember to shoot from the ground.

9. Get creative with where you place your subject in your viewfinder. Move them out of the center.

10. Use your environment to frame up some shots if you can.

New Year 2011

I don't have any current pictures downloaded from my camera to the computer, so you'll have to settle for a wordy post this time. It's the new year and this is where I am supposed to write about all the things I want to change this year. Ya know revamp my life and adopt a bunch of stuff from other people's lives and then give up on them in about 2 weeks cuz they are not fitting in my life. The Lord placed a thought in me the other day when I was havein' a chat with Him, He brought to my mind, "how about working on the gifts that I have already put inside you instead of trying to create new ones that don't work for you!" WOW ya mean like when I keep trying to shove that round peg into that square hole? - it just doesn't work! Now, I am all about change and making improvements in life. Bettering myself for the sake of the Kingdom of God is very important to me. I am just trying to figure out which vehicle I need to use that works for me. Needless to say, I have really been thinking about that the past few days and really thinking it through for my life. First thought was "What are my gifts now after 5 plus years of baby raising, a major move and a new life somewhere completely new?" What used to be "me" has long since faded in the hot sun of change. Although, I do know that there are some core things about me that haven't changed. For instance, I love to be creative, I love to decorate. I love texture, color and the perfect placement of things. Everything and everyone has it's place in God's creation - no matter what. Something useful and somewhat broken to me doesn't mean destroyed, it means, "what does this need to work again?" Although I do love to purge useless clutter that causes chaos and of course to reorganize. I love the Lord, my family, my life and all that goes with that. I love God and I love His people! So this year is going to be a year of discovery again for me. A continuation of the unveiling of the gifts God has placed in me, just in a new light if you will.

Thus, so begins a project I have committed too in hopes that it will help me process these gifts again. I was invited to join a group of gals called "Project 365." It's a photography group where each gal commits to taking a picture a day of things in her life. My theme is based on my blog title, "Think in These Things and Phil 4:6" It's a bit scary to commit to 365 days of pictures and of my life based on this theme for several reasons, the greatest is committing to 365 days of pictures. Second is sticking with my theme and another is that I am not a photographer, but I plan on learning more. I think this is going to be one great venue to explore and to create a place for God's gifts in me to land. I think it's going to challenge what is already in me to grow a little more and take on a new perspective. It's very exciting, because I will be with some pretty talented ladies that take WAY better pics than me. That is VERY cool!

So here's to 2011 and the continued discovery of me through God's eye's. What I hope is with the pictures, it will reflect the Him in me. Stay tuned into the process!

Little G is in this little phrase of asking this hysterical clarifying question. When someone says something to her that she doesn't catch or doesn't understand, she says, "What choo said?" It is becoming quite catching around our house. We laugh every time she says it and of course she get's highly offended and yells, "It's not too funny!" I know we should correct her and tell her it's incorrect grammar, but it's just too cute and I know that it will be short lived. Soon she will be saying it correctly and we will forget this fun expression. That's why I had to write it down. The days of these young years are flying by - gotta capture the moments!

Little G's 1st Pony Ride and Big G's 100th Train Ride

Little G loved her first pony ride on "Molly." It was a fast little guy. I thought I would be walking along side her and I was actually running to keep up with that pony! As for Bid G, he still loves a good ride on a train. I have lost count on the number of times he has ridden on one. He still loves his choo choo's!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

Our annual pumpkin patch trip was very fun and very warm. We picked up our fall decos for outside and grabbed some pumpkins for the kids. They liked going in the corn maze and picking out their pumpkins. Because there were so many, it was hard to pick their favorite one!

Little G is everything I have always heard about having a little girl! She loves her princesses and will lay and look at books for a good while. She loves to have her hair done and will pose her best pose for the camera. She loves to write and color and make cute little pictures for me and tells me about her favorite colors - pink is her bestest! She is tough as nails, but sensative to the core. She sings and dances her way right into my heart. I love my Little G!

I love this picture because she was looking up at the raindrops hitting the umbrella and she was so enthtalled with that concept. The contraption really does work Little G!

Slow and steady. It's a lot to keep that thing just so, so she doesn't get wet!

Little G was so excited that it was raining and that she could put on her kitty boots and Disney Princess jacket and of course take her umbrella outside and take a walk in the rain. She stayed out there for quite a bit and enjoyed the wet stuff. Time for some inside play now.

It is hard to imagine that Little G is already ready for Preschool. We are so blessed that she gets to attend where Big G went for his Preschool experience. Little G even has his teacher Mrs. Kelli. We couldn't be more excited for her to start her learning adventure. It's happy sad time for mama, but I know the fruit that comes from this experience. It's fun to be back where we started. Little G is very familiar with this school, so the comfort and ease is already there. Have a great year Baby Girl! God has given you many gifts and now it's time to share them with the world.

It's official, Big G is in Kindergarten and let me tell you, he loves it! He loves having a locker this year and he loves his teacher even more. There theme this year in the Classroom is "Hollywood" and that makes the classroom very festive! There school wide theme is "Giving Thanks to God" Colossians 3:17. We are looking forward to seeing all the growth, physically, mentally and spiritually this year in Big G. God Bless you buddy!

Little G is truly a monkey. From the time before she even walked, she was climbing on things. She loves it! So what better activity for her other than gymnastics. She loves it and she loves her coach Miss Adrian. She truly brings out the best in Little G. She is learning cartwheels, back bends, forward rolls, splits and more. Little G is 3!

This post is so overdue, but on July 9th my Little G turned 3! I cannot believe she is that old already! She is starting Preschool this Fall. It all seems too soon. She is a complete joy. She is full of life and unending energy. Is loves to dance and sing her own made up songs. A day doesn't pass that she is not in some Disney Princess outfit and climbing all over the furniture and counters. As such, she loves her gymnastic class for that same reason. She talks up a storm and loves to disagree with you on just about everything, yet is ultra sensitive. Her brother is her hero and she will do just anything short of sitting on this head to get his attention. They love to watch cartoons together and dance to any song that may be playing somewhere in the house. She loves her Grabiel! As for daddy, she is wrapped around his finger quite tight AND... she knows it! He loves his "beauty" and it shows. I pity the guy who will have to live up the love she gets from her papa. As for mama, she stole my heart the minute I heard her cry in the delivery room. Little G loves to say, "I love you mama!" And if I don't reply, she says, " Why you not talking to me?!" and will ask until I tell her I love her too. So many more wonderful to say about our little girl, but I'll whisper those in her ear to let her know how much she is loved. Happy Birthday Little G - you are an amazing gift to us!

July 4th - 2010

The fourth of July was double the fun this year. We spent some time with friends on the lake and then spent the evening celebrating with our neighborhood friends. In the afternoon, the Ice Cream truck came through the neighborhood and the kids beg us to get something. The kids have never gotten anything from an IC Truck, so this was a complete treat for them and very exciting! As for the firewoks, they are insane here in Indiana. You can light off whatever you want, wherever you want. Thus, we saw some amazing displays. Little G doesn't like the noise of the things, but she loves everything else. Big G was able to light off a couple of the "big" ones with some adult supervision. He thought that was pretty cool. It was a fun time and of course, festive.

I am way behind on my posts. Maybe it's because we have been celebrating so many "great" things around here. The Big 50 arrived this year for C and we did a surprise party for him. So many people helped out and the evening was a complete surprise. We had it in a barn. I know, I know, but we live in Indiana and it was an awesome spot to have it. We danced the night away with a live DJ, ate yummy appetizers, and simply celebrated C's bid day. Happy Birthday Honey - here's to 50 more!

The Back Yard

I just had to do a post on this. I know it's not too exciting, but I just have to share all the hard work C has put in back here over the past 3 years. When we moved in this place was in bad shape. No grass, all weeds. No deck, just a stoop to come out the back door. No nothing. But we have since added a deck, grass and sod, 10 garden boxes, a patio off the deck, landscaping around the deck, a grill and our three day gazebo. I guess they don't last long around here due to the winds and storms. They were right. The flower pots, weeding, watering and kid play areas are my contribution to this place. So here it is. It is amazing that with a plan, patience, time and of course money and hundreds of trips to the home stores - things do begin to take shape. Big G likes to help too, especially when dirt is involved.

Little Miss G has some new wheels to cruise the streets this summer. She is still in need of a license, but she is having fun. After getting rid of Big G's riding train, I thought, "Hey, this house needs another riding toy, why not a Jeep for the girl!" It's like having a third car in the garage which C loves when he is trying to get the mower out, but after seeing her have so much fun, it's all worth it! You go Little G! Feel the wind in your hair, sun on your skin and the power in the pedal!

Kids - They say the funniest things!

The other day I FINALLY found a solution to my laundry room door with windows. I found some nice curtains that allows some nice sun block and yet allows me to see out and keep an eye on the kids when they play. SO... after seeing the new window coverings, Big G says,"Mom, I like the new window sheets you have in here!"
Me : "What sheets are on the windows?"
Big G: "The one's right there!"
Me: "Oh, those are curtains."
Big G: "Curtains?! That's a weird name, they look like sheets!"
Me: "You are right, from now on Big G, we will call curtains - window sheets."

A New Camera - More posts!

So excited that a new camera has arrived at our house. Yes, it was my Mother's Day gift and I am thrilled. It is a bad feeling to not have a camera when your kids are doing all this fun stuff and the memories are just slippin' by. So, all that to be said, I wanted to share some of my Mother's Day gifts. Big G was really into the day this year - which was really cute. He loves to celebrate. He made me a Scooby Doo block dog and the very stylish foam necklace, which he said looked really good on me. : ) Little G likes to celebrate too, but she likes to talk about her party coming up in July. Yes, she is a planner!
So the kids made me breakfast and delivered it to me in bed. So nice. The kids sat with me and ate all my breakfast and then it was off to church. Did I mention that everyone slept "really" bad the night before? I really felt like I had a newborn in the house. Little G was up a couple of times, Big G even got up @ 4:30 am - ugh! He never does that! Anymore that is. I was restless. So, needless to say, we were beat! So home after church and lunch and it was nap time for all - except Little G. She was a crazy girl that day and thought playtime was a better idea. We then headed out to the yard for a few hours of planting. Such a beautiful day. So here is the day - in pictures! Hope your Mother's Day was great. Whether your a mom or not, there is always someone that we "mother" in this world.

A Great Gift For Mother's Day!

Little G has been very successful these past couple of weeks with potty training. I know, I know "What kind of blog post is this about potty training?!" Well, after 5.5 years of diapers and bags, it's a whole new freedom when the kids "get it" with the potty. Well to go a bit further with this "TMI" post, Little G went #2 today. Just in time for Mother's Day. What a gift! When they are ready, they are ready. She was oh so proud of herself today. Now, I did not take any pictures to post on this blog, of which I am sure you are very thankful. BUT, let me tell you, it crossed my mind to grab the camera... but I didn't. Aren't you happy? I know that I am thrilled. Training is just that training. For my kids it was not an overnight success, but in their time with proper exposure and patience, they got it. Isn't life like that? God is patient with us and in the "end" it pays off. Pardon the pun. Good job Little G - my little girl is growing up so fast!

Easter 2010

We had a very nice Easter this year. The kids woke up to their Easter baskets and they had fun checking out all their goodies. Then we got on our Easter outfits and headed to church. It was a nice celebration and a great message on Jesus' resurrection. We then came home and gathered up our dishes and headed over to friends for a wonderful dinner and egg hunt with the kids. It was a beautiful day, hope yours was too.

California 2010

Well, we ventured to the West coast again this year and it continues to prove itself to be a fabulous time. The only issue this year, well... a big issue, my camera was ruined inside my purse. I think a sippy cup exploded from the airplane pressure and the liquid seeped into my camera screen and put it to rest. BUT, I was able to grab a few pictures. Little G had her own seat on the plane this year and it was nice to have the extra space for her to squirm on the 4 hour flight. We were very thankful for C's IPhone and the DVD player. Both were great entertainment on the flight. The greatest thing for little G were the mini-tootsie pop suckers. I think she had about 6 in 4 hours. We had a great time with family and friends and we ventured to the ocean, Birch Aquarium in LaJolla and Disneyland to name a few stops. Here are a few captured shots.

Big G said the other day that he thought we shouldn't do any "business." When I asked him what he meant, he said, ya know, no grocery stores, no errands! I think he and Little G were in on this "no business" day cuz when I looked at my planner I noticed some scribbling. So needless to say, we didn't do "business" but we had fun!

Valentine's Day Brownies

I am getting my last Feb. 2010 post in before March sneaks in, in about 25 minutes. These little numbers pictured here were truly an act of love. With all creative projects,time seems to always take over the fun of it all. The end result for Big G's Preschool party was all worth it when I loaded up the cute red basket and happily handed out the yummy brownies to the kiddos. It truly took a village for these little numbers to come to fruition. The bags were shipped from my friend in Cali. - Thanks Carrie and well... the rest is history. Oh.. and Happy Valentine's Day about 13 days late!

Winter time fun!

Keeping the kids entertained on these cold and snowy days can be a job in and of itself. The Wii game has been a wonderful gift this winter - it keeps Big G entertained and active. He LOVES winning "1st place" in the games as you can see in the picture. Anything but 1st place is grounds for therapy for him. Little G on the other hand has been enjoying her Princess castle from grandma from Christmas AND the homemade Play-doh from Auntie Ashley. She loves "cooking" with her doh. All ways to keep them entertained and happy until the warm weather comes our way.

Little G has been wanting to go to gymnastics since last summer when Big G took his class. I kept telling her she had to wait until she got a little older. Well, with much checking around, we went with a one month free trial and are just giving it a try. She by far is the youngest and smallest in the class, BUT, she loves it! She can't wait until her next class and now that she has a Disney Princess leotard, there may be no turning back. Here she is in all her glory and joy. Like I said, she can't wait until next class.

So hard to believe my little guy is 5! So hard to imagine! But he will never be as young as he is today, so I am enjoying this time with him. We celebrated with family and friends. It seemed to be a birthday that just didn't end. It was wonderful to celebrate our boy. He amazes me with his thinking. He loves the Lord and His Son Jesus - the best gift that Big G can truly give us is that! We pray for him daily asking for God's guidance and direction to raise him in His ways. We pray this next year will be filled with many blessings for you G. We love, cherish and celebrate the gift God gave us in YOU!

Big G's School Program

Big G's School has it's Winter Jubilee. We had a fun time watching he and his friends sing their hearts out at the show. Big G really gets into the singing and the motions. I was praying that with all his moving that he wouldn't fall off the back of the risers. AND.... he didn't! We clapped and cheered on these cute little people.

Christmas 2009

This Christmas was lots o fun. We went to Christmas Eve service and then had friends over and celebrated with food, white elephant game, celebrating Jesus' birthday and the kiddos opened gifts. Lots of Power Rangers, Transformers, Barbies and Princess'. Christmas morning we woke up pretty late and the kids opened their gifts and then we packed up and headed to Uncle David and Aunt Mary's for Christmas day. We spent the night at Grandma's house. We brought Grandma back with us for the week and had a lot of fun while she was here. Christmas was a wonderful and magical season this year. The kids really enjoyed hearing the story of Jesus' birth and are truly understanding the meaning of the season. We were very blessed and thus we were able to bless others this season that were in difficult places. God is good.

"Snow" much fun!

The first significant snowfall got the neighborhood kids out for a little snow fun. Shoveling, snowmen and snowball throwing were the top things to do this day. Little G caught on quick to the snowball throwing. Note in one picture, daddy is about to get pelted with a snowball down his neck. The kids liked it, but they liked the hot chocolate just as much.

All Bundled Up!

The temps are dropping around here, but the kiddos are ready for the season with their warm coats. Now coats have been a challenge to figure out back here for me. There are several types that one may need. Outside thick play coat, a ride in the car light coat for errands, dress up coat, and... well, there is a lot more but I won't bore with details. None the less, here are the kids. They are ready for the day. Big G is off to school and Little G is off to church.

Thanksgiving 2009

This holiday season was so much fun and pack with activity - I will have several posts to catch everyone up. Thanksgiving was at Aunt Mary and Uncle Luke's house and even though the gathering was small it was a lot to fun and relaxing. Here is a view of the day. Little G is wearing a dress that daddy bought for her in CA over a year ago and we have been waiting for her to grow into it - and here she is in all her glory. Big G couldn't wait to put on his new holiday PJ's from Grandma. He lives in these things. He's all about being warm and cozy - just like his mama. Here's to the first of several posts on the hol-i-daze.

Traditions

I love traditions. In fact as a child I remember many traditions, especially around the holidays. I remember Christmas Eve and Mid-Night mass and Christmas morning at my mom's house and then off to my dad's for Christmas Day and Night. So many other little things are woven into the holidays that naturally carry on in our family now and many more new ones are springing up as our two are past the infant stages. Some traditions that are being birthed around our home is teaching the kids to give in this season. So we are gearing up for the big toy purge of 2009. Both the kids will get grocery bags and they can go through the house and find some things that they don't play with much anymore and into the bag it goes and off to a thrift store we head. Others are integrating the true meaning of the season into a daily practical way so that they "get" why we do what we do during this time. I love to read to the kids before bed, so I have been gathering books that teach on the season. I keep a basket in the hallway so the kids have access to it and pick their pick before bed. Tradition. On Christmas Eve we sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and celebrate His birth. We put Jesus and God into the season. We tell the kids that they get gifts because it's Jesus' birthday and HE loves us so much that he let's us get the gifts for him. "Isn't He giving?" I tell the kids. God gave us Jesus as a gift on Christmas and we remember that by giving gifts to celebrate that. Tradition. Serving others during this time (any time frankly) by buying groceries, buying gifts, sending letters and cards to those who typically don't receive is something else we are trying to cultivate in the kids. So this year we will make cards, buy gifts and food and have them participate in the giving of them. The picture above is of our neighbor growing up, "Mr. & Mrs. Wylie" Mrs. Wylie is a big part of my memories growing up. She never had children, but my brothers and sisters would go over and visit her just about everyday. She taught my sister to tell time and I spent many hours chatting and following her around her house as a little girl. She always bought us a gift at Christmas and now we go and visit her. Her husband has passed away so she is all alone. We love her and now my kids get to spend time with her on the holidays. Tradition. Traditions make me smile inside. Traditions give me joy and peace. C has been wanting to build a Pirate Ship for months. Originally he wanted it outside but with lots of contemplation, he knew that wouldn't work, so his next best thought was in the basement. He came up with the idea of attaching it to the staircase and use the storage under the steps as part of the ship. The kids have a place to get their energies out this winter. They love climbing on the deck and underneath the deck and then climbing under the staircase. It is quite an adventurous place for them. The girls have a kitchen area in the ship too. We have pirate hats, foam swords, eye patches and hand hooks and pistols for them to act out the pirate within. There is even pirate music for them - just adds to the ambiance. C did a great job on the ship and had a great time creating this in just a weeks time. We will be adding some more items to add to the effect of it all, but for now, the kids are having a blast. Halloween 2009

It seems the Holidays are becoming more extensive now a days. Halloween lasted for 2 days around here and the candy will be around for months. We had a park party, Trunk or Treat at church and then a Halloween Party and Trick of Treating in the Neighborhood. It was a fun October - the kids had a fun time with all the decorations and costumes. Little G actually had two costumes this year. Here is a little glimpse into the holiday.

WOW! Check out this lipstick application! Little G found my Halloween lipstick and had a GREAT time playing dress-up with it. Praise the Lord Big G spotted her with it and told me before she went too crazy with it. When I showed her her creation, she was so proud. I can't blame her, there is nothing better than a great tube of gloss.

Costume Test Run

Last Saturday our town Park District had a Boo Bash at a local park. It included a costume parade, pumpkin decorating, train rides, hay rides. It was a rainy and cloudy day but the kids had a blast and best of all they got to wear their costumes. Here are some preliminary pics of their costumes. On Tuesday Big G's Pre-K class took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch for their field trip. We rode on a bus, on a hay ride, picked pumpkins out of a the Pumpkin Patch and checked out and fed the animals. We had a great day. It was a perfect day for a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. It was beautiful day with my gooby-goo!

Dress Up Queen!

There is not one moment in the day that you will not see Little G in some sort of get up. She has her dressy shoes and her shakie, shakie skirts (those are what she calls the ones you can spin and twirl in). She can also dance and "shake" her back side in the them. She has hats, back packs, purses, necklaces, wings, sunglasses and anything else "pretty" she can get her hands on. Check out the fashion diva herself in full "get up." Ugh!!! When I ask Big G what he wants to be when he grows up, he tells me a race car driver! My worst nightmare to tell you the truth. Speeding behind the wheel is not my idea of fun, nor should it be his. I don't want to crush his dreams, but my prayer is that it is just a passing phase. BUT until then, when he requests a photo shoot with his hand built race car, I will do as such. I thank the Lord his car is built from foam blocks and he is wearing a helmet. In the meanwhile, dream away my son, dream away!

We were invited to go apple picking with some friends on Labor Day Weekend and we were so excited to be able to pick our favorite Honey Crisp! YUM! A Teachable Moment

On Friday C was scheduled to do a wedding at church for a young couple. As always, I have to prepare the kids a couple hours in advance that a babysitter is coming and who it will be and what they will be doing while we are gone. That gives Big G time to process and ask any questions he may have and typically there are a few that needing answering. BUT one question he asked was one I did not expect. When I told the kids that we were going to a wedding and daddy was going to marry someone at church, Big G became very concerned and the conversation went something like this:
G: Mom, you are going to a wedding with daddy right?
M: Right.
G: But mommy, why is daddy going to marry someone else when he already had a wedding with you and already married you??!!
M: Oh buddy, I am sorry you misunderstood mommy. You are right, daddy is married to mommy. He is going to be the pastor and marry and bless another man and lady so they can be married just like mommy and daddy.
G: OOHHH, cuz you are daddies bride right mama?
M: Yes honey, and mommy and daddy will only be married to one another and nobody else, ever. Always remember that ok?
G: OK

Oh the minds of young ones and the very teachable moments that occur daily. God tells us to be ready in all seasons. I pray that I am ready for each of these seasons.

First Day of Pre-K

Well, yesterday was Big G's first day of Pre-k at his new school Crown Point Christian School. According to him, His first day was awesome! He loved being able to take his lunch, wear his new tennis shoes, take his new Spiderman backpack, see his friends and meet new ones. He did go to Preschool last year for two days and for two hours. This year it's 2 days and ALL day this year. He was pretty sleepy at the end of the day, but by the look on his face, he was excited to start school to say the least. He is already asking how many more days until he can go back. I pray this excitement for learning remains constant in his life. Bless you Big G. Life is a wonderful adventure!

Sweet Success!

This summer has been one of discipline with running. On August 3rd, it was time to run for Team World Vision and see if all the training for this day had paid off. Well, after 3 hours, I crossed the finish line and also raised $385.00 for the team and the people in a village in Rwanda Africa. Overall, the church raised close to $45,000.00. Awesome, success is sweet! We spent the rest of the day and the next enjoying the great city of Chicago while my sister stayed with the kids at home. Thanks to all for your support financially and personally.

This summer with all the running I have been doing, there is one song on my IPod that I like to call my "theme song" for my life right now. This song really picks up my pace and I truly praise God with this song. I praise Him for my husband, my kids, my home, my church, my friends and you, especially if you taking time to read my blog. It is a Wonderful Life that I have and I never want one moment to get away from me and I don't want to take them for granted. Unfortunately.... I do. What A Party!

Little G had a very fun birthday(s) this year. We didn't do the blowout neighborhood bash like on her first, but none-the-less, this year was just as exciting for her. Little G had some neighborhood friends over for cupcakesand ice cream on the deck. We then headed to Aunt Mary and Uncle Luke's house for a very fun party with family. To say she was blessed is an understatement. She also received her gifts and blessings from for family out west. Tomorrow is Little G's 2nd Birthday and as I rocked with her tonight and prayed for this next year of her life I couldn't help but think of her future and then begin to pray for all that it will hold for her. After laying her down, I remembered a song that I had heard at a conference many moons ago and this song is my hearts prayerful cry for my little girl (and boy). A prayer that she will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is there for her always and loves her so much more (which is hard to imagine) than I do. Running, Running, Running

If you'd ask me what we have been up to around here, I would tell you lots of fun kid stuff, swimming, playing ya know summer stuff. BUT, for me I have been creating a very close bond with these little babies on a pretty daily basis.
We are spending a lot of time together and they are really going the distance for me - if you catch my drift! To be exact, they have carried me 78 + miles in the past month and half and we have probably that much more before the big race on August 2. I have very much enjoyed the running. It has been a disciple that I have enjoyed challenging my flesh with. There is never a time that I look forward to running 5 plus miles, finding someone to watch my kids, making sure I have had enough nutrition and fluids to carry me through and then there is the temperature and time of day to run. The list goes on and on. BUT, the other day when I had to go 8 miles. I really had to plan my run. I called a friend who was at the half way point and asked if they'd set a cup of water out so I could get a quick drink and keep going. Well, Jeff was so gracious, he gave me a COLD BOTTLE of water. Well, at 4 miles and hot, I was not about to take a sip and leave this beautiful cold bottle of liquid relief behind. No pockets, not gonna hold it for another 45 minutes. What is a GIRL to do? Well, I had to be creative and this is what I came up with.....

Yes, you guessed it, I used what God gave me and it was a lifesaver. I am sure I am not the first to have figured this out. But man was I grateful for it. It saved me! Off to do 5 tomorrow. I think I'll stash some waters in the bushes around the neighborhood for this one!

This picture was a night after returning from a carnival and we had some friends over for cake and ice cream. C is wearing the traditional Birthday hat. Very fun. The many facets of Little G

Here is the latest on Little Miss G. This little girl is sweet with just a hint of spice. She's our little dress up girl and superman all wrapped into one. She can put on a cute little getup and then proceed to climb to the top of a cabinet in a blink of an eye. She is fun and full of energy. She can hang (from my kitchen chandelier -seriously) and with the big boys, playing swords and superheros. BUT...when the girls are around, she pulls out her purses, necklaces, baby dolls and pink high heeled dress up shoes in a split second. I love this little girl. She NEVER ceases to amaze me with her charm and personality. But the one who melts at one little glance or smile is her daddy. She is his, "Beauty!" We love you Little G, you are the apple of our eyes.

Well, last Friday marked the end of Big G's first year of Preschool. To say he was proud overwhelmed with emotion and beaming with joy is an understatement. Oh, did I say that was Big G's reaction, I guess I should say that was mom's and dad's emotions. For Big G, he was excited, but I believe it was just another day in the life of a Preschooler boy. It was a wonderful program the teachers and staff put on. You could truly see the love and care they gave to the kids throughout the year. Big G's teacher cried so many times and I can see why - these little ones are just too precious. Frankly, I joined right in with the tears. They provided tissues on each families seat and now I know why. It wasn't for those who may have had a cold, it was for us moms (& dads) who were in awe of what God is doing in the lives of our children. I am amazed at the change and growth that has happened in less than one year of Preschool. Well, now on to Pre-K. Here is our little guy (and girl). Little G was right up on stage after the program sitting in the kids chairs. She is ready (I'm not!) Aunt M and Uncle L even joined us, we had a great time.

WOW, almost a whole month has gone by without a post. So sorry. But looking back at my last post tells why. The weather is getting nicer, Big G is riding his bike everywhere, Little G is living outside and hangin' with the big kids, there have been park dates, bon fires and BBQ's. To date I have run over 30 miles since my last post in training for this 1/2 marathon, we have projects outside every time I turn around. We hauled 3 yards of dirt on Saturday to expand our garden, but it is in. And the patio off the deck is almost done, and the 2 yards of mulch around out house is lookin' great. Let's see... anything else..., oh I'm sure there is, but I won't bore you with the details. The good news, my camera is working again and we have been healthy for a couple of months now. Amazing!!! Weather is the trick and none of us got the Swine Flu, or anyone else we know for that matter. Off to bed and to hydrate, have to keep up on this training schedule! I'll get some pics up on what's been happening around here very soon. And remember, "Time is a very precious gift from God; so precious that it's only given to us moment by moment." A New Chapter in Big G's Life

Well, I moved out baby clothes a couple days ago and it's a good thing because we now have another bike in the garage. Big G learned how to ride a two wheel bike without training wheels today! So exciting. Last year we purchased a bike with training wheels. We got him one that was a bit bigger, thinking, "He'll grow into it." We never imagined him learning to ride without training wheels so soon because frankly, I don't remember learning so early. I know I was at least in Kindergarten before my brothers launched me down a huge hill and said, "Just go!" I learned, but I was very frightened and because of that I would have never even tried Big G so early. But, his friend Z learned last weekend and Big G has been on a mission to accomplish this task as well. Well, off went his training wheels on his bike yesterday and low and behold he was able to balance and ride, but his bike was just too big, he couldn't put his feet down to catch himself. But, God is so good on how He provides. We were cruising the neighborhood this morning and our neighbor was selling her grandson's smaller two wheel bike for $4.00. Big G was so excited, he ran home and asked daddy if it was ok to buy it, and daddy agreed only if he had money to pay for it himself. So thanks to some Easter money from family, he ran back and made his big (small) purchase. By the end of the day, he was cruising up and down the sidewalk having a blast! I wanted to grab some pictures of him right after dinner before it got dark, so that is why he is without his helmet in these shots. So, a big day here for Big G, and me. I always wondered if I could teach him to ride a bike w/out training wheels. Praise God it didn't take too long AND we are grateful to Z's Grandma Gardy who inspired these young boys to take the risk and learn. Check out the video below.

Packing up the Little Clothes!

Well, today I faced the task of going through and packing up and labeling the boxes of baby clothes. I have gone through and weeded before, but today was the final exit of "Baby Clothes." I am sorting and remembering all the "times" the kids were in the clothes. I had some that I saved for Little G from Big G and even those I had to say good bye to today. It was a bitter sweet time. Now... I love to purge and scale down on the boxes of "stuff", but for some reason these boxes are harder to rid myself of. I can pretty much remember who gave us what and when and where the kids wore what and why. It amazes me and even more C when I often can't remember what happened in the morning or what time it is for that matter - but ask me about an outfit and I'll give the history. I guess we remember the things that bring us joy. Like the shoes they took their first steps with or the outfit they came home from the hospital in. And don't forget the hat that they wore on that special holiday or the cute Hawaiian shirt they wore to their first themed Birthday party. Oh, and the cute sunglasses that they wore swimming with daddy and we only got one picture in them before they decided chewing on them was better. Oh the memories these boxes hold. And today, I passed much on to next blessed new mommy with tears in my eyes. I know that they too will place their special bundle in these many "oh so cute outfits" and create more of the same memories for their family. And if the clothes last a bit more, maybe they'll pass them on again for another go round. Time goes by fast and today was beautiful realization that there will be more special items that will grace my babes bods that I'll want to cherish. Like tutu's and sports jerseys, not to mention the school projects that they'll bring home. Oh, that's gonna be a hard one too. But for today, the little outfits have exited the building (expect for a few REALLY special ones that are stashed away for their little ones someday).

Grandma!

When Little G puts on her new shades from Aunt Mary and Uncle Luke she says, "Grandma!" Now, I really have no idea why - my mom DOES wear glasses, but by no means are they bright yellow with flowers. I sometimes wish I could get in my kids heads for understanding. But, for now, it's just a darn cute thing that we get to experience with Little G. Oh, the stuff all over her face.... M&M gunk!

The kids LOVE my laundry baskets. These baskets become race cars, step stools, toy bins, hide and seek hiding spots, chairs, buckets, turtle shells, hats, airplane cockpits, rocket ships and one of my favorites to is pretend they are animals in their cages and I have to feed them snacks through the openings. Hoyart AKA Yogurt

Easter 2009

We had a fantastic Easter this year. Big G really is getting the meaning behind the season and it was such a joy to share our Faith with him. What an exciting time as a parent! I am loving it.

Our Little Girl

Our Little G just LOVES to be outside. We had some freak warm days in Feb. and we took FULL advantage of them. Little G loved drawing on the driveway with her chalk and simply just "being" in the driveway. She didn't go far, she just enjoyed the sun on her face and the writing instruments in her hand. We had a great day and are looking forward to doing more of "this" very soon.

A little bit of THIS and THAT but more THIS than THAT - ugh!!! Just a TV I know, but what the heck do you do with a broken piece of un-fixable electronics? According to Vizio, the broken part costs more than what we paid for the TV. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense Mr. Vizio!!!??? Time to find a new TV, Consumer Reports here we come!!! AGAIN! Although, we can rule out buying another Vizio again.

We Break Free

Last weekend, C and I were able to get away. Well, actually we had a church vision casting meeting in Michigan and they like the spouses to join. Well, you didn't have to ask me twice. The glitch, who will take the kids overnight. Well, our wonderful Kelly and her husband Shawn volunteered. It was the first time in 4 years that I have been away from both of the kids overnight. It was a very nice time away. We stayed at a really cute Inn on Lake Michigan. We had great fellowship, planning, dining and fun. It was wonderful to be with C. We realized how much we really like being with one another. It was like dating all over again, but married this time round (if that makes sense). Thanks Kelly and Shawn for making it possible.

A New Look in the Basement

Last week we were blessed with a visit from our friend Chris. Chris is such an amazing guy and we love to have him in our home. He has many gifts, but one that he has shared with us is his incredible ability to create and paint. When we moved into our house he painted Little and Big G's rooms and we were so excited, but this time he painted a mural in the basement and we said, "That is beyond amazing." Check it out. We love it Chris, you are such a blessing to us. May God continue to bless you and your service to him wherever you go!

A Week & a Day Ago!

A week ago plus one day we were just finishing our day at Disneyland and had a fantastic time. I wanted to get this post done yesterday, but that is a whole other post in and of itself. When we went to Disney, we thought the kids would last until the late afternoon, but they went way longer. To be honest, I could have spent another few hours there myself. It was so much fun and we were able to spend our day with cousins Cailin, Makena, Lisa and Yolanda. What a blessing that was! Big G is still talking about the Pirates of the Caribbean. It was so fun to see the expressions on their faces - just had to share some of our memories with you. I'll post more on our trip very soon. Until then, here is a little sneak peak.

And Now He is 4!

On Sunday Feb. 8th we celebrated Big G's 4th year of life. I stand in awe of our little boy. I can say little because to mommy, he will always be my little baby boy. He is far from a baby though, he started Preschool this year and is completely potty trained as of this past summer. Yea!!! He still loves to dance and still loves music. He plays the drums and guitar (electric or acoustic) everyday. That has never changed. Big G loves his friends and wants have a sleep over just so he can spend more time playing. He is a leader, but needs lots of guidance from God, mom and dad. He loves to swim and play outside. He longs for summer everyday. He is truly a So. Cal boy at heart. He loves animals - especially sharks, dinos and underwater life. He likes action heros and plays them daily. I never know if Spiderman or a Power Ranger will show up in our living room. Today it's Spiderman. We love our boy and our amazed at the gift we were given in him. We celebrate his life and all the he is. Love you Gooby Boy!

Everyone loves a good book!!!

The other day I was cruising the house doing my thing and when I turned the corner I caught Little G in the reading corner. She has taken to books these past few months. I guess she figures if she can't go outside and play, she might as well take up reading. She loves turning the pages and if I listen real hard, I do believe I can hear her muttering sounds as if she is really reading. I was in awe at her contentment to just sit there. Here is our little scholar. The cute part is she saw me snapping pictures and the last picture is her running to the camera yelling, "Cheeeeeeessssse!"

The Best Dollar I Ever Spent

A couple of weeks ago I was at Target looking through the $ bins - of course, and ran across these dress up shoes for Little G. WELL... she LOVES her little pink shoes. She wears them all the time and loves dressing up with them. She dances in them and tries to wear them when we go out. Little cold for that, but soon I'm sure she'll be cruising the neighborhood with her little pink sandals.

WOW, I have no idea why I have been so negligent on my posts. I guess we have been too busy and fighting too many little bugs that throw me off track. We did although do some fun stuff in Jan. Like sledding. The G's just loved the thrill of flying down the hill at top speed! I have to admit, I did too. Getting cold is not my favorite, but when it involves fun, it's much better. Praise God for Medicine

This week we have been hit with the flu and Erythema multiforme. Yep, say that 10 times fast. Big G was on an antibiotic for his continual jaw pain and after a week, broke out into these huge welts ALL over his body. Poor boy. He has been miserable and truly has wanted to crawl out of his skin with the itching. I can only imagine the torture. Little G and I have been layin' low with the flu. That seemed to come in like a vengence but has cleared up rather quickly. Praise God! Kids sick is bad, but when mama is down that is down right horrible. C took a half day and came home and took care of the kiddos while I got a really good rest yesterday and that has done wonders. Now if this darn headache of 4 days would go away, I'd be ready to run a marathon (well, at least I think I would). We are waiting for Big G's rash to run it's course. It's not contagious, thank you Lord again! Things we are grateful for this week. Little G: Tylenol, chicken noodle soup, blankies, gatorade and naps. Big G: Benadryl, Tylenol, Aveeno bath and anti-itch cream. Mom: Ibruprofen softgels, soup, crackers, gatorade, a wonderful husband, prayer and all the lessons the Lord has for us even in the tough times. Praying all is well in your world!

Our Trip to the City

Last Monday, we braved the cold and did our annual trip to the city to see the sights and enjoy the season with the kids. While we were there, we were dining in the same restaurant as Lieutenant Gov. Pat Quinn. We were able to capture a picture with the guys and the Gov. graciously passed out his business cards to the kids. We didn't want to break it to him that we are Hoosiers and can't vote for him, but none-the-less, it was a fun moment. I think he has his new cabinet don't you think. We offered to pray for him due to all that is going on in Ill government at the moment. His reply, "We need all the prayer we can get!" Wow! Here are some other highlights of our day. Little G found herself in a very large banquet room where she made herself at home. One of her admirers said to me, "Gee, you never know, maybe she'll have her wedding reception here someday!" Ugh, I wanted to cry. Married! Wedding! My goodness, she's only one and a 1/2. But... I have to admit, the thought crossed my mind as I watched her check out the room. Well, more holiday pics to come, but for now, here is a one of many festivities we have done in the past few weeks leading up to Christmas.

As I type this I am listening to Little G scream her head off in her bed. I can hear Big G up reading stories to the baby dolls he took to bed. I know I should go up and tuck them in for the 3rd time and be the "spectacular" mom I desire to be. But.... I'm done. I know they are safe, I know they have all the comforts that the world can offer all around them. Night lights, blankets, warmth, white noise. And I know they will go to sleep, eventually. And I will begin my "projects" at 8:30 PM. Not really wanting to do another thing today. Even though I have done a ton. I ran around with Little G on errands in the freezing rain, in and out of stores buying the last of my Christmas stuff, dropped off, picked up G from school, ripped apart the car looking for his Speed Racer car wheel. Never did find it. (But the van sure is clean!) Made dinner, did the dishes, bathes and the list goes on and on. Yet, the stuff I NEED to get done, still needs attending too. Ya know, the stuff on the "To Do List" that I get to actually check off. The same one that has been on my desk for 3 days and hasn't got a single check mark on it, just more stuff added to it. Like my workout, like my Christmas project that I thought would not be a big deal and now is - I have started and stopped it about 15 times today and have accomplished the first page. Dinner is still on the stove and needing to be put away. C is at another meeting tonight, that I didn't know he had until 5 PM tonight. My toenails need much TLC, but my back is feeling like it's going to give out, so I don't dare do that tonight. My office desk has about a one foot clearing - enough room for me to type this pitiful entry that I am sure is putting most to sleep at this point. I am not looking for sympathy, simply just a place to write this down so that I can look back in a week or two and see how God took care of all the things that are stressing me out right now. There.... all done! Do your miracles God! Ah... I hear no more crying. Sleep has entered our house... Amen!

His first performance!

Big G's Preschool put on a VERY cute Christmas program based on the book "Room For A Little One - A Christmas Tale" by Martin Waddell. Big G was one of the Wise Men. We all had fun with Aunt Mary and Uncle Luke. Little G got in on the action. Before the show started she went up and warmed the crowd up with a little time at the mic. She didn't say anything. But, she wanted too! Here was our day. Great job G's - you are too fun!

Harvest Party, Preschool Style

Today was Big G's Harvest Party at school. They had a lot of fun listening to the story "Stone Soup" (and making and eating it). They made homemade butter for their bread. Gracie joined in on the fun and was shaking up the jar to make the butter. They drew things they were thankful for and made cute little Indian hats. They ended their celebration with their teachers sharing why they were thankful for their students. Big G's teacher shared she was thankful for him because he always makes her laugh. We left the party and both kids passed out in the car on the way home. We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Big G had PJ, Popcorn and punch day at school the other day. He was SO excited to wear his footie PJ's to school. He frankly wants to wear his pajamas everyday all day. Whenever we go anywhere I have to convince him why he need to wear clothes outside. Sometimes I win - other times I just let him enjoy his youth. Happy times, happy boy!

Last week I when I finished my coffee, I found two little treasures in the bottom of my coffee mug. Ya know you have kids when you find "things" in your coffee mug that ya know you didn't put there. Gotta love the 101 uses of rubber bands.
